Weekend Preview 29th April

Updated: Apr 28, 2023

Looking at the forecast it seems that we might have all 5 senior teams in action this weekend. There are games for the 1s, 4s and the Sunday XI while the 2s and 3s travel.

Saturday 29th

Baildon 1st XI v Morley 1st XI - Jenny Lane @ 12:30

Match Day sponsor: Wilde Wools

After a friendly game what feels like months ago, the 1s have a game this Saturday. They face top-of-the-table Morley who won one of the three games that took place last weekend in the 1st Division. New overseas player Jamin Barron-Toop will be hoping to send Morley's century maker C Silkstone back to the sheds early. The absence of James Ford this week gives Sam Holmes a chance to bring some match fitness into the first team. Captain Kev McDermott scored a big century against Morley early last year and will be looking to pile on the runs again.

Team: K McDermott, C Reynolds, J Reynolds, M Khan, W Kelly, J Newlove, S Holmes, R Athwal, J Marron-Toop, U Zahoor, C Malik

Methley 2nd XI v Baildon 2nd XI - Methley @ 12:30

Match Day sponsor: Simon McDermott

After winning against Yeadon last week, Simon McDermott will be hoping to keep the momentum going in this clash between the two early leaders in the second teams 1st Division. Methley looked to chase the score set for them relatively easily last week and with bowlers Sam Kelly and Haris Hussain back in we'll be looking to pose more of a challenge to their batsmen. The addition of Stefan Mather will strengthen the batting order after relying more heavily on the lower-middle order than Simon would like against Yeadon.

Team: S McDermott, G Barker, J Abbott, H Brook-Dobson, S Wilkinson, D Bell, L Turner, J Terry, S Kelly, S Mather, H Hussain.

Pudsey Congs 3rd XI v Baildon 3rd XI - Fulneck @ 13:30

A young bowling attack will be keen to make an early impression in the B division against newly promoted Pudsey Congs. Will Baker will hope to repeat his run-making of Wednesday after a handy 43* against Rodley U18s. With Dave Hodgson missing a number of top order batsmen from previous years there will be a chance for players to make a stamp on a higher batting spot. Will usual opening bowlers Paul and Mini be able to hold onto the new ball?

Team: D Hodgson, J Butterfield, W Baker, S Bullock, J Hannan, P Sunil, P Hannan, T Pickles, L Smalley, D Metcalfe, S Miller.

Baildon 4th XI v Adel Dales Council XI - Sandal School @ 13:30

A number of familiar faces are available this week for the 4th team against a side that should be very competitive after dropping a division this year. Hopefully we can get points on the board early in the season before midsummer where we typically struggle with numbers.

Team: A Norton, A Free, Z Ahmed, M Ahmed, B Fawkes, F McCall, L Shaw, L Modhwadia, A Turner, D Barber, T Joy.

Sunday 30th
