Everyone is away this week so it's back to me on preview duty...
Another perfect sweep shot...
As I’m writing this preview on Tuesday evening (Whitby bound later on this week) please forgive me if I don’t mention any earth shattering events that may happen in-between times. For example England starting well in the test match against New Zealand, etc etc!
This weekend sees our first and second teams take on East Ardsley, with the ones away and the twos at home. Since East Ardsley entered the league, this has always been a very competitive set of fixtures, so Dwayne’s men will be looking to get back to winning ways and Darren will want the 2nd XI’s winning run to continue.
Both our Bradford League sides are currently sitting in the middle of their respective league ladders and although the season is only 7 games old, it’s starting to become clear which teams will be battling for the top and which will be trying to avoid the drop. In the first teams division 1, Jer Lane and Wrenthorpe are the exact polar opposites, with Jer Lane having won all 7 and Wrenthorpe losing all 7 of the games they have played. For the second teams division 1, Hartshead Moor sit rock bottom with 7 losses out of 7, whilst Bradford & Bingley, thanks to the run scoring exploits of Matt Swallow, are top with 6 wins out of 7.
Our 3rd XI currently sit top of Dales Council Division B with 6 wins from 6 games, 23 points ahead of Roundhay in second position. The 4th XI are 6th out of 8 teams in Division C, but only 14 points behind Mayfield in third.
As well as league tables starting to take shape, we have some early leaders in the battle to be the top run scorer and leading wicket taker for the club…

If you go to the teams tab on our website and click on either 2022 Honours board batters or 2022 Honours board bowlers, you can see a record of every score in excess of 50 made by a Baildon player this season and every bowlers' haul of five wickets or more. Currently the records show that this has been very much a season for the batters, with only three five fors on the board so far. Could this be the weekend when our bowlers begin the fight back?
In another plug for our website, www.baildoncricketclub.com, it’s worth taking a look at the individual team sections. I’ve updated all the senior sides’ pages with new images, thanks go to James Grimmitt for a lot of the recent pictures as well as John Chapman for some of the older ones. If you have any pictures of Baildon CC players in action, please send them to j.butt1978@icloud.com.
On the front page of the website you will also see information about the upcoming beer festival, so please make sure to like and share as much of our content as possible to really help us spread the word about our upcoming event!
