Baildon CC Beer Festival 2023 - A chance to remember Don Butterfield

This year's festival gives the club and all it's members the perfect opportunity to remember the passing of one of it's most loyal servants; Don Butterfield.

As Don passed away in the winter, it was hard for the club to think of the best time to both commemorate and celebrate, the memory of someone who dedicated so much of their own time and effort to Baildon CC. His contributions to the club ranged from runs/wickets/catches with Baildon Meths, to 20+ years as a groundsman, 10+ years running the junior section, many years as club secretary and also in the early days of our beer festival, cooking up his legendary hot meat sandwiches.

As a man who was never sentimental and not one for dwelling on the sad side of life, we decided it would be fitting to celebrate his memory at this year's beer festival, with a minutes' silence at the interval in our 1st team game against Yeadon, at Jenny Lane on Saturday July 1st. As the game starts at 11:30am, the interval will be at around 3pm.

We would like to invite anyone who knew Don to come along, share in the minutes' silence and have a pint or two in his memory. So his old Police colleagues, cricket team mates (and opponents!) garden/allotment friends etc etc will all be most welcome.

We will be serving a selection of guest ales; along with lagers and cider, gin, rum and prosecco. There will be soft drinks and food available from a variety of different vendors with live music following the end of the cricket match. If you can't make it on the Saturday, the festival is also on Friday 30th of June and Sunday 2nd of July.
