First team make 3 new signings

We are delighted to announce the signings of 3 new faces for 2020 with 2 of them being familiar to Baildon supporters.

James Ford (pictured above) rejoins the club from Championship One rivals Pudsey Congs. The left handed opening batsman and wicket keeper will replace Jack Hainsworth at the top of the order who is taking a year off (although he will play if we are short). Fordy has experience playing in the Premier Division having also played for East Bierley in the Bradford League.

Louie Stronach has also rejoined the club and will slot into the top 6 and provide back up to Fordy with the gloves. Louie made an impressive start to life at Baildon in 2019 before personal circumstances led to him returning to his native Norfolk. He is now returning to the area and we are delighted to welcome him back.

Our third signing is 16 year old leg spinner Hassan Shakoor from Bradford & Bingley. Hassan has an excellent record in second team cricket and produced a match winning spell of 5-19 against us in a T20 last season. Whilst still young he has an excellent reputation and we are excited to see him develop alongside fellow spinner Simon Bailey.

We will shortly be announcing our overseas signing for 2020 so keep an eye on the website for further news on this!

Players not returning to Baildon in 2020 are outgoing overseas Blair Oakley, Mushtaq Ahmed and Haris Mohammed and we wish them all the best. Mushy has been a stalwart at the club over the past 20 years and to reach 1,000 Bradford League wickets in 2019 was a memorable moment for all who witnessed it. He was also an integral part of our 2009 title winning side. He leaves with our best wishes.

Players who have been retained from our 2019 squad are captain Dwayne Heke, vice captain Simon Bailey, Jonny Reynolds, Will Grace, Mohammad Khuzaifa and Mounam Ejaz.

We are confident that we have put together an exciting squad capable of competing towards the top of Championship One.
