Matchday Notes - Saturday 31st August

Committee man Steve Mottram previews the action.

A big welcome goes out to today's opponents Keighley and their supporters as they make the short journey over to Jenny Lane. As things stand going into this game Baildon are in 4th place, whilst Keighley are in 5th place so a good game of cricket should hopefully be on show today. Both teams aren't mathematically out of the equation for promotion but realistically our chances were ruined last week when we were defeated at Bankfoot. But with only 3 games remaining we will be looking to finish as high as possible.  Today's opponents Keighley are a young side and were unlucky in the corresponding fixture at their ground when rain ruined what looked like an obvious chance of a victory. Players to watch for from Keighley are captain Paul Quinlan who is reliable medium pacer, Alex Antoine their overseas this year is an explosive batter who can change a game very quickly but hopefully he has an off day this Saturday. Add to these, young players such as James Rodgers a lively opening bowler and Louis Horsefield a young batter then today's opponents should be a tough challenge. Hopefully the weather stays fine and everyone enjoys the game as we near the end of another long season. Steve M (Motty)
