Under 17 chatterbox Adam 'Deano' Dean talks us through the weekend's action.
I would like to welcome you to Jenny Lane for a massive weekend for the club both on and off the field. The first team take on Gomersal at home on Saturday in a crucial game after a disappointing performance last week where we were 58-8 in a top of the table clash before the rain intervened. A big shout out to Reno (AKA “Creature”) for a 15* carrying the team to the rain.
Mushy and “The Man Mountain” Simon Bailey have been begging for a bit of spin up at Jenny Lane and Chris Reynolds has not disappointed this week (though a rarity that may be)as it’s an absolute Bunsen Burner that looks a fantastic cricket wicket guaranteed to entertain the Beer Festival crowd watching from the side line.
Also so a big shout out to 16 year old Sam Woledge-Wilkinson making his first team debut, who’s destined to play at that standard and without doubt will be a fantastic learning curve for him playing with the likes of Blair, Mushy and Jonny with masses of experience to pass down to the young prodigy.
On another note, a big shout out to the junior department who’ve excelled this week. The Under 17s winning a tight affair coming down to the last ball against Green Lane with an inspired performance from Louis Turner and the Under 11s who’ve made it 8 wins out of 8 after beating a valiant Bradford & Bingley team. Performances like these bodes well for the Bradford League’s biggest junior setup and for the future of Baildon Cricket Club.
It's also a massive weekend for the club with the annual Baildon Beer Festival coming up in memory of the late, great Simon Hegginbotham who’s dearly missed by all at the club. I invite you all to the club for the festival where we’re serving a wide variety of beverages and foods and without doubt will be fantastic few days running from the Friday during junior train all the way through to the Sunday where the Under 15s take on Saltaire at home. I look forward to seeing you all up at the club through the weekend and good luck to the 3 Baildon teams taking to the field this weekend.
