Matchday notes - Saturday 11th May

This week first team vice captain Jack Hainsworth previews the action:

Hello, this weekend we welcome our opponents Scholes to Jenny Lane. Scholes are still looking for their first win of the season, just losing out to Pudsey Congs last week in a close fought game. Here’s hoping that first win doesn’t come today! At Baildon we have had a relatively good start to the season, we were well on top in our first game against Ossett, posting 223 and having Ossett 13-1 before the rain arrived. Against Batley we posted a decent target of 173, thanks in the majority to a fantastic 91 from Blair. Unfortunately it didn’t prove to be enough, as Batley’s S Ullah put together a very good knock of 103* to see his side home with 2 wickets remaining. Unfortunately it was a case of missed chances for us that day. Against Hartshead Moor last week we registered our first win of the season, a pretty comprehensive victory overall. Jonny put Moor into bat and we restricted them to 130, which we then knocked off 3 down. It was an all-round good team performance, with wickets for Bails (4) and a couple apiece for Blair and Harris. Runs from myself, Dwayne and Jonny helped us to chase the total down comfortably. There was also a marked improvement in the field, with some good catches and runs saved in all areas. Looking ahead to the rest of the season, it appears that there are going to be a few teams in the mix come the end of the season. From what I’ve seen so far I see no reason why we can’t be there or thereabouts, we look a strong side and if we play to our potential we will be very competitive. That’s all from me, looking forward to another good game of cricket and good luck to all the Baildon teams in action this weekend. Jack
