Firsts make further double swoop

We are delighted to announce 2 further signings for 2019 as the first team continues to take shape.

Dwayne Heke (pictured above) has signed from Aire-Wharfe club Leeds Modernians. Heke, originally from Australia but now UK qualified comes with the reputation of being a hard hitting batsman at the top of the order. In 2018 he scored 631 league runs including one century and five fifties and is an exciting addition to our top order.

We have also captured opening batsman Will Grace (pictured below) from neighbours Bradford & Bingley. Will had an excellent 2018 in second team cricket and is moving to Baildon to make the step up to first team level. As a left hander he will form a decent left, right hand combination with fellow opener Jack Hainsworth.

Welcome to the club Dwayne and Will!

With George Barker and Hamzah Iqbal both leaving the club (we wish them both well) and Mounam Ejaz being unavailable for most/all of 2019 we have acted quickly to plug the gaps left and see both Dwayne and Will as long term prospects in our long term aim of getting back into the Premier Division.

At the end of the 2018 season our intention was to sign another seam bowler, a keeper and a top order batsman. We have now filled all three positions and with the news that overseas Blair Oakley and stalwart Mushtaq Ahmed have committed to the club for another year we are in the best position to look up rather than down.

With the second team having a talented group of young players we can look positively towards the future as we have a structure in place to build long term success not just at first team level but at every layer of the club.
