Programme Notes – by Simon Bailey
This weekend we welcome Yeadon to Jenny Lane.
It has been a very frustrating start to the season for the 1st team. If you look at the table it shows us 3rd from bottom, but we shouldn’t be there. We feel as a team that we should have won at least 3 more games than we have done. In them games, we have either lost by a couple of runs or by 1 wicket. So if we had of won them games we would be sitting higher in the league and thinking that it is a good start to the season.
Last week saw us travel to Gomersal. They batted first and we bowled them out for 161 in 40.5 overs. The pick of the bowlers were Mushy and myself. Mushy finished with 3 wickets for 4 runs and myself 3 wickets for 57. When we batted we just fell short of the victory by 8 runs, the outstanding performance was Jonny who scored 65 not out.
As for our performances we have had a few players that have stood up for us.
Jonny has started the season off where he left it last season with the bat and he remains our go to guy. Jack has shown this season so far that he is a very good batter. He has also scored his first half century for the club. He has also improved with his ‘makeshift’ bowling. Mounam has also started well with the bat and has moved up the order from last season and we hope he continues to bat well for us. Plus I have also stood up with bat and ball this year. Waqas has been performing well with the ball for us.
When Yeadon last visited Jenny Lane, it turned out to be a good game and a good home win for the lads and we are hoping that we ca do the same this time round. As for Yeadon, they sit 7th in the league with 4 wins. They are a good team with some good players who are performing very well for them.
