Programme Notes - Saturday 6th May vs Wrenthorpe

A warm welcome to our visitors Wrenthorpe for today’s encounter. Wrenthorpe have made a strong start to the season, winning both matches so far, and without doubt will be one of the teams aiming for promotion to the premier division this season. They have players who are capable of playing at the highest level. A score of 300 plus last week makes them formidable opposition. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about Baildon, who have lost both games so far, including last week’s game against Bowling Old Lane which could and probably should have had a different outcome. That said we were still without our talisman overseas player Waqas Maqsood who was at a Pakistan A team training camp, which underlines the quality he brings to the team. Everyone at the club welcomes Waqas back for his third season with us, and we hope this is as successful as the first two. Mounam Ejaz has made an excellent start to the season with back to back fifties, and Jack Hainsworth has found some early season form and we hope this continues. There was some welcome news last week when the second team registered a victory over Hopton Mills. The stand out performer was Danny Hunt with 4 for 18. Danny is making good progress with the ball. A mention must also go to Dan Metcalfe who took over the second team captaincy at short notice and he has assembled a competitive team, whilst also putting in two good performances on a personal level, with 8 wickets from two games. Hopefully today can be the start of the first team getting their season underway with a much needed victory.
